Welcome in the New Year!

This stunning New Year's decoration was created by Cheryl Martin making the entryway to her home beautiful and exciting. Cheryl's blog "Cat's Holiday & Home Decor" is chocked full of great decorating ideas and lots more details about her New Year's creation. Be sure to visit her blog and tell her Trendy Tree sent you! Cheryl created the bold black and silver letters by printing off some numbers and cutting out on cardboard. They were then covered in black paper and the edges glittered. Beautifully wrapped boxes in a black paper with silver scroll pattern make the perfect backdrop for the huge letters. Silver streamers add more glitz and bling. The doorway is adorned with a garland made of white poly mesh and black and silver ribbon. Accent pieces along the garland are clock faces, horns, crown and party hats. Cheryl made the clock faces by printing off some free clip art and gluing them to foam core and decorated glittered. Another great example of using the clock faces was done by Angela at Prettify Your Life for an Alice in Wonderland party theme. The clock faces would be great for an "over the hill" party too. So many cute decorations can be had with just access to a computer and printer! Silver and black ball ornaments add more glitter to the creation........perfect use of those silver Christmas balls))) Curly glitter sticks similar to the Craig Bachman Glitzy sticks were used for added texture and dimension. The silver glittered Glamour Rope from Craig Bachman would work equally as well in this creation. Cheryl designed her wreath on the door with the same theme. Cheryl carried her New Year's theme of white, black and silver right on into her living room with this gorgeous garland placed over her fireplace. The garlands were made using a basic white Work Garland which makes creating garlands easy. Just choose your color of Deco Poly Mesh® or other poly mesh, make your base then add contrasting ribbons and other embellishments. Black party hats and horns add to the festive creation. In this photo you can see where she used her back and silver ribbon as a band around the hat....gives it a little more glitz and shine. Silver picks and feather sprays and strands of black beads add interest and dimension. The "Auld Lang Syne" lettering was specially cut vinyl that can be adhered and easily removed from the fireplace surface.
