K.I.S.S. is my preferred method of crafting or decorating. What that means is "keep it simple silly!" Or "keep it short and simple" Or "keep it short and sweet"....take your pick! This project is the K.I.S.S. Fall Sunflower Tobacco Basket. We'll call it #002. The plan is to do more of these K.I.S.S. decorating projects so we'll try numbering then.
The tobacco basket project was decorated by Rachel in the Trendy Tree store and it was so simple.....anyone can do it. Even me!
Tobacco Basket
Tobacco baskets are lightweight so they make perfect backgrounds for display. This particular one is sold as a set on Trendy Tree. It's from RAZ and the SKU is X3920753. The basket above is the smaller or the middle one of the three baskets. The largest one is about about 20"
Tobacco baskets not the color you were looking for? Rachel thinks nothing of taking a basket outside and giving it a quick once over with spray paint. There are copper colored baskets hanging in the windows of the Trendy Tree store. AKA Rachel.

Creating the Floral Piece
This K.I.S.S. Fall Tobacco Basket with Sunflowers project started with a fall sunflower cattail pick that was just about enough of a floral in of itself. To add a bit more color and fullness, two pieces of the Saw Leaf bush were added.
The manufacturer listed this item as a "sunflower cattail" spray. It has four or five beautiful sunflowers and would be a great pick if it didn't even have anything else. But cattails? I'm not sure. It does have some other spikey yellow and brown things, but to this Southern chick, that's not a cattail spray...lol But I love it anyway.
Back to the K.I.S.S. project. To combine the picks together, Rachel secured the stems first with wire, and then wrapped the stems in jute string. Just inexpensive jute string from the hardware store. You can also use a bit of hot glue on the stems to keep the string from slipping off.
One and done! That's all it took to put together this fall floral pick.
Making the Bow
Next she added a simple loop bow using the three ribbons. She started with four loops of the 2.5" ribbon; three loops rust 1.5" ribbon and finished with two loops of the beige ribbon. Rachel used floral wire to secure the bow together.
Attaching Floral to Basket
Rachel attached the floral piece to the upper right corner using floral wire and fashioned a hanger of jute string. The basket hangs at an angle which was the intended position.
If you wanted to hang the basket as a square, you would need to use two hangers across the top instead of one.
