Patriotic Disco Ball Wreath Tutorial

Patriotic Wreath with Disco Ball Sign

As promised! Here's the tutorial for the Patriotic wreath with an exclusive Trendy Tree disco ball sign. We made this a few days ago and it's good match to go with the Patriotic garland Carrie and Ashleigh made last week. Here's a link for that tutorial in case you missed it.

We created the Patriotic disco ball wreath as a Facebook live and the link to watch is posted below. Please be patient as sometimes between the downloads and uploads, the audio can get a little mismatched from the video. It's probably something that can be fixed....but you know how we are with audio visuals!

The Essentials

Cut pieces of deco mesh 20″ in length. You should have enough to cut 36 from the two rolls of mesh. If you come up a little short on the last pieces, it won’t show.

Make ruffles for the Patriotic disco wreath by rolling the cut ends of the mesh in a bit, and scrunch up through the middle. Place two ruffles in each twist. It doesn’t matter if you start on the outer or inner ring. If you pull a twist off (like I did) just wrap it around the wire frame and the remaining twist and continue on. It will be a little shorter, but won’t show.

Add ribbon strips or leave them off. Cut ribbon in 13" lengths and cluster in any manner you choose. I like to untwist the ties, lay the ribbon custer down on top of the ruffles and re-twist with two or three turns. Finish off the ends of your ribbon with an angled or dove-tail cut.

Attach the sign with chenille stems. Or you can add cable mounts with glue. I need to get some! Exclusive signs from Trendy Tree do not come with holes. You'll have to punch a hole for the chenille stems, or add cable mounts to the back.

Make a bow your favorite way. Carrie used the EZ Bowmaker.

Make a hanger for the wreath using chenille stems, floral wire, or zip ties. Check the back to make sure nothing sharp is sticking out that would scratch your door. Snip any frays. Avoid pulling them. All mesh ravels, but rolling the edges helps reduce fraying in a ruffle wreath.

Show Your Colors!

Decorating your front door for patriotic holidays like Memorial Day, the 4th of July, or Veterans Day can be a simple yet impactful way to show your pride and support for your country.

Hang a wreath (One that you made!) adorned in red, white, and blue. Whether you opt for DIY decorations or a purchased wreath, adorning your front door is a cheerful way to celebrate and honor the spirit of patriotism.
