Originally designed in the 1600s to train horsemen, a fanciful carousel was created by an inventive Parisian toy maker who wanted everyone to enjoy the fun. Over the centuries brass poles, mirrors, jewels, lights, music, fantastic hand-carved wooden horses, and other creatures would adorn these carousels.
