The Legend of the Pineapple

The Legend of the Pineapple

The pineapple has been a long standing symbol of hospitality. There are several stories about how the pineapple became a welcoming beacon to one's home. Personally, I like the story about the swashbuckling captains who traded in the Caribbean Islands and would return home with cargoes of spices, run and a selection of fruits that would sometimes be pineapples. According to legend, the captain would return home and when his work was done in the harbor, he would stop outside his home and spear a pineapple on a fence post. This was a symbol to his friends that he had returned home safe and sound from his journey and was an invitation for them to visit, share his food and drink and listen to his tales of the sea. So, placing pineapples somewhere for your guests to see is a warm welcome inviting friends into your home. Your front door is a perfect place to incorporate a pineapple into a wreath. Here's a great new pineapple sign that just came in. It's made of wood and metal and about 18" in ht. We also have ribbons with pineapples. This is a 2.5" ribbon in ivory, yellow and green. It comes on a 10 yard roll. And we also have a 2.5" black ribbon with gold pineapples. This ribbon also comes on a 10 yard roll. Another great pineapple product is set to arrive any day now. It's a pineapple lantern from RAZ Imports. It is made of metal and measures about 7" x 15" It's a great year round item and would never go out of style! You could put a candle in it, or decorate with some spring flowers and greenery. The lanterns are available from RAZ in two sizes, but we just ordered the larger one. The SKU is 3817032. Lanterns are a great way to add a spot of seasonal decor to your home. You don't need a big space for them and it doesn't take a lot to decorate one. Decorating a lantern is a prime spot to use those premium florals that you might not want to use in a project that requires a lot of fullness. Just decorate your lantern for the season, or even occasion. Then change it for the next season.
