Make Halloween Candle Holders from Wine Bottles

An inexpensive candle holder for your Halloween decorating can be made from assorted size empty wine bottles. empty wine bottles Spray paint the bottles with a flat or matte black paint, dark gray or burnt orange. You can do a little sponge painting with silver or orange on black. Fill the bottles about 3/4 full with sand or anything you have in the cabinet to add weight to the bottle to keep it from turning over too easily. Use a funnel to fill the bottles or make one from paper by rolling a sheet of paper up tightly and inserting into the bottle, then spread the top out enough that you can pour the sand. Water is a good alternative if used in an area where spills won't a problem. wine bottle Add black tapers or battery powered candles. Trim wax tapers if needed for a good fit. If battery powered tapers are used and are a bit too small for the bottle, you can place rubber bands around the bottom of the candle. Assorted heights of bottles will add interest to your Halloween display. If using battery candles, a bit of Spanish Moss will add an eerie effect. (photo from myhomeideas.com)
