Decorate a RAZ Cedar & Pine Wreath for Christmas

raz-cedar-pine-wreath-with-logo This tutorial will show you how to take a RAZ Cedar and Pine wreath and decorate it for Christmas. Supplies: W210827 RAZ Mixed Pine & Cedar Wreath MTX52164 Velvet Fur Edge Ribbon 4" RG1276W1 Lime Green Red Edge Ribbon 2.5" X433609-09 Lime Green Red Felt Reversible Ribbon 1.5" 3556422 RAZ 5" Red Glittered Wool Ball 3556421 RAZ 4" Red Glittered Wool Ball 3556408 RAZ 5" White Glittered Wool Ball 3556407 RAZ 4" White Glittered Wool Ball 3502218 RAZ Elf in Red Pajamas 16" Note: When these particular items are sold out, you can still apply this technique using different types of wreaths, ribbons or ornaments. The first step in this project was to take the wreath and fluff out all the branches. cedar-pine-wreath-before-fluffing It will be shipped in a compact shape and each branch needs to be fluffed out. cedar-pine-wreath-fluffed Next we made a 13-14" hand tied bow with the 4" red fur lined ribbon with the green backing. We wanted to make our bow first, so we could use what was left over or part of what was left over as ribbon strips for the wreath. cedar-pine-wreath-bow The reverse side of this ribbon is a beautiful green, so to show that we just rolled up the end of the tails of the ribbon. cedar-pine-wreath-34-inch-strips-red-velvet-ribbon-trendytree We cut three strips of the 4" ribbon 34" in length. We used the limbs from the wreath to hold the ribbon in place by just giving it a twist. The ribbons were attached leaving about a 7" tail on each side. This gave a loop of ribbon about 10" This is variable, you could place your ribbon on your wreath in different ways, but we wanted to attach the pieces and have the tails long enough to roll up the ends to show the green backing as on the bow. cedar-pine-wreath-roll-ends-red-ribbon-trendytree We used three pieces in all of the 4" ribbon and had a little left over on the roll. You can use as much or little ribbon as you wish. cedar-pine-wreath-three-strips-red-ribbon-trendytree Next we took the 2.5" lime ribbon with red edge and 1.5" lime and red felt ribbon and cut 16" strips. The ends were cut using the chevron method. Just fold the ribbon in half, then fold again lengthwise, cut on an angle at the folded side. cedar-pine-wreath-chevron-fold-half-trendytree We layered these ribbon strips by placing the 1.5" ribbon on top of the 2.5" ribbon and pinched the ribbons in the center. Cut a chenille stem in half, and lay over the pinched center, grasp from behind and give it a couple of twists, making sort of a ribbon pick. cedar-pine-wreath-ribbon-picks-trendytree Secure the ribbon pick to the wreath, choose your placement and secure the chenille stem from the back of the wreath to the wreath frame and not just the limbs. cedar-pine-wreath-attch-ribbon-picks-trendytree Next we added some assorted RAZ red and white glittered wool balls. These balls are made of Styrofoam and covered in yarn, sprinkled with glitter. They are very lightweight and make a perfect addition to the wreath. Balls can be secured in different ways. We choose not to permanently damage any product for our tutorials when we can, so we just secured the balls using chenille stems through the loop hangers. If you want to more permanently secure the balls you could make a hole in the ornament and stick a wooden floral pick (with some hot glue on it), then secure the wooden floral pick to the wreath. You can also put a good bit of hot glue on the ball and nestle it down in the greenery. cedar-pine-wreath-add-balls-trendytree It helps to figure out your placement of balls before you start securing, especially if you are securing permanently. Practice with several different placements before you settle on your final choice. Next we added two of the RAZ 16" elves dressed in pajamas. These elves are so cute! They are flexible, so you can just bend them anyway or position you want. We just used chenille stems around the waist to secure to the wreath. 3502218-raz-elf-red-pajamas-16-inch-trendy-tree You can also secure with tiny floral wire and you might want to secure in more than one place, around the body perhaps and a leg or arm. raz-cedar-pine-wreath-closeup-elf-1 cedar-pine-wreath-elf-2-trendytree The last touch was to add the large hand tied bow with a chenille stem. cedar-pine-wreath-finished-trendytree The wreath measured around 26-27" in width and about 35-36" in length if you measured to the tips of the ribbon tails. We have another video to show you how to make the hand tied bow also. subscribe-trendy-tree-channel
