Deco Mesh Ball

If you've been following the blog you know there are several new wire forms from Craig Bachman for creating deco mesh items. There are new wall trees, balls, crosses, candy canes and cones. I've been asked if we stock any of these and we haven't so far because they are so large that shipping would be expensive compared to the expense of the product. And, the balls are HUGE! I think the balls would be probably used in retail displays and so forth. But, the crosses and candy canes might be an item we could stock eventually. The trees too are fairly large. The smallest tree is 48" so you're really getting into quite a large shipping package. So, some substitutes may be in order. I've been playing around with some chicken wire wrapped around a basketball to create a round frame to work with. The chicken wire actually was fairly easy to separate, slip the basketball out and then wire back together. I used pipe cleaners as the twisties. But Angela, over at Prettify Your Life has even a better idea! She found some grapevine balls at Hobby Lobby and used pipe cleaners as the twisties also. She put together a great Halloween decoration and has a video on her blog showing the steps. This video is well worth watching......and it just starts the juices flowing! The balls could be used for Halloween decoration, Christmas balls to hang from ceilings, in windows, on trees, or party decorations for a backyard celebration. I think you could wire some lights around them before adding the deco mesh. This might be a great opportunity to use our new battery powered string of wreath/garland lights too. Check out the video on Angela's Blog.....be prepared to spend some time there....she has lots of great ideas))
