A Christmas Carol

Family Gift

"A Christmas Carol" along with hardbound copy of Charles Dicken's famous classic, would make an outstanding holiday gift that a family would treasure for years to come. Start a family tradition reading the book during the holidays and placing the ornaments on the tree. Ornaments come in a wooden keepsake box to last for many years.

Nutcracker Fantasy

Special Events

Nutcracker Fantasy is a boxed set of ornaments featuring characters from the Nutcracker Ballet from Inge-Glas. Old World Christmas has one that is less expensvie. Make wonderful holiday memories by taking someone special to the ballet, and presenting them with a beautiful set of boxed ornaments. I'm saving one for our grandaughter for that day we get to take her to the ballet.

Pets

Animals representing beloved family pets are always a welcome gift. Couple with a personalized dog bone and a dog house ornament for an extra special gift.

New Home

Alpine House

Houses, cottages and cabins that represent that first new home or special family gathering places are a welcome choice. Ornaments that remind us of hearth and home bring cheery warmth to our holiday decorating.

Good Luck

Frogs have long denoted good luck in business. Since a frog only travels forward, he is always progressing and as such he represents a prosperous future. So a frog ornament is often given as a gift at graduations, weddings, or to someone beginning a new business venture. Even though it is portrayed as irresponsible in Aesop's fable "The Grasshopper and the Ant," the Grasshopper is considered to be a symbol of abundance and good luck. Legend has it that prosperity will come to any home that finds a bird's nest nestled among the branches of the family's Christmas tree. As a symbol of good luck, a bird nest ornament or a twig nest, makes a special gift which brings hopes of good fortune and best wishes. Read more about Christmas spiders and good luck.

Wedding, Engagements and Anniversaries

Inge-Glas Wedding Day Set

Gift box sets of Wedding ornaments are available from Old World Christmas and Inge-Glas. Individual ornaments such as bride, wedding cake, hearts also very nice gifts. As graceful decorations that grow naturally on majestic firs and pine trees, cones were among the first molded glass ornaments to be made. Cones also were believed to be symbols of motherhood and fertility, so they were given to brides to hang on their Christmas trees. An assortment of different pinecones or a starter set of 4-6 make a nice wedding gift.

Gifting Ornaments for Kids

For those of us that are lucky enough to have ornaments from our childhood know that they can represent some of our best memories as children. Start this wonderful tradition with your children and grandchildren. But start NOW! The nice thing about shopping online for ornaments is - you can FIND ornaments when the occasion arises that represents your special need. If you have to wait until stores display their holiday items, chances are the moment will be lost. Even if you don't present the ornament at the time, you can store it in a special box to be given at Christmastime.

Moments to be treasured don't have to be big events at all, it may be the day you made cookies together, went on a picnic, or slipped on a banana peel! Ornaments that represent school and sports events are plentiful, pencils, footballs, baseballs, soccerball, cheerleaders with pompoms....all are easy to find.

Our grandaughter has a tremendous appetite for strawberries, especially the chocolate covered ones. So, when I look at the Chocolate Covered Strawberry from Inge-Glas....it shouts "Maggie!" Course, its in her box for this Christmas. The Rubber Chicken from Old World....looks like it was made personally for my jokester grandson AJ. Thats the fun thing about collecting ornaments for kids. You just know the ornament when you see it!

My advice is however, get one for the child, and get one for yourself too! One of these days, they'll grow up and want their special ornaments to take home to put on their own tree! Resin ornaments are plentiful when thinking of small children and can be a good choice, but its also a great time to teach children how to care for their special collectible glass ornaments to make them last for years.

Baby Gifts

Baby's First Christmas

The first Christmas can be remember with an heirloom gift, like the boxed set of German ornaments "Baby's First Christmas." Individual ornaments such as a Rocking Horse, Rubber Ducky, Baby Bottle or Shoes are also perfect. Bible story ornaments packaged in wooden keepsake boxes make nice baby gifts. In this time of recession and financial difficulties so many families face, baby gifts often are packages of diapers, wipes, lotions, soap and shampoo! It had always bothered me to give a gift of "diapers." But I've heard so many new moms express how much they LOVE getting these types of items and being so thrilled that they have enough diapers to last for months, that I've changed my feeling about it. But, it still very easy and fairly inexpensive to attach a small Christmas ornament that will be a longtime keepsake.

Another great baby or small child gift is to package a keepsake ornament along with a gift the child can use or play with now....and the keepsake ornament put away for later.Little Red Riding Hood

Story books such as Little Red Riding Hood, The Tortoise and the Hare, Three Little Pigs, Cindrella, Snow White and Puss N Boots for example, can be packaged with an heirloom Cinderella and Prince Charming, Little Red Riding Hood, or Puss N Boots. For a more economical gift, Old World Christmas' Three Little Pigs, Tortois and Hare, Little Red Riding Hood are available along with other choices. Bob the Builder books and the Crescent Wrench, Pipe Wrench or Hammer ornament. Thomas the Train and one of our locomotives. Dora the Explorer and a Pinata or Taco.

Disney princesses

Snow White

Cinderella and Snow White. You can find almost any type of ornament to go with your choice of books. If you have a book and can't come up on an ornament idea....give us a call! Oh...and Spongebob! How could I forget him! Couple with a crab, jelllyfish or octopus!
